‘Gray Googlers’
Make Money on Internet

The Internet is not just for the young, according to a report in USA Today. Many so-called ‘gray googlers’ work the Web just as well and some are making up to $25,000 annually doing it.

‘Google isn’t just for kids anymore,’ says Google executive Kim Scott, who runs the company’s AdSense program, which places sponsored ads at the top of search results at Google’s own site.

Yahoo and MSN have similar programs, but Google dominates with more than 50 percent market share, and search advertising, with 90 percent.

‘With AdSense, we fund creativity on any topic,’ says Scott. ‘If you have a subject you know something about, write about it, find a like-minded audience on the Internet and we’ll take care of monetizing the content.’

Joel Comm, author of The AdSense Code adds: ‘People are amazed. They say, “Really, all I have to do is write, Google will put ads on my site and pay me?” Yes, it’s that simple.’

Google’s computers scan the Web and match sites’ content with appropriate advertisers. ‘The beauty of our system is that we have so many advertisers,’ says Scott. ‘The content may not change, but our ads change every day. So you’ll always see something different there.’

Creating a Web site used to require knowledge of HTML computer code, or familiarity with Web-design software such as MS FrontPage or Adobe’s Dreamweaver. However, Google and Yahoo have free tools to create Web pages or blogs.

Many Internet website-hosting companies also feature free online site-creators. AdSense uses these to automatically insert ads.

82 Year-old Bride Dies

Adelfa Volpes, an 82-year-old Argentine woman who married a 24-year-old man died less than a month later. The cause of death was heart problems.

Ms Volpes was admitted to a sanatorium in Santa Fe soon after she and her new husband, Reinaldo Waveqche, returned from their honeymoon in Brazil. Mr Waveqche is the son of one of her best friends. They fell in love after Mr Waveqche went to live with her after his mother’s death, when he was 15.

“I don’t want to resign myself to the idea that I lost her,” said a disconsolate Mr Waveqche.
The couple were married on September 28, 2007.

Matures Remain Sexually Active

Older couples continue to be sexually active well into their later years, according to a recent Australian conference report. Seventy-three percent of 57–64 year-olds are sexually active, dropping to 53 percent between 65–74 and 26 percent between 75–85, the Australasian Sexual Health Conference was told.

However, a discreet silence inhibits discussion of sexual problems, said Patricia Weerakoon of the University of Sydney. ‘The risk is that when problems arise, they may develop in secret and be concealed by embarrassment, generating misery and fear and suffering.’

Weerakoon added: ‘Baby boomers should also be encouraged to explore the myriad meanings of sexuality and physical and emotional intimacy, rather than strive for that perfect intercourse experience or the increasingly elusive orgasm.’
